Koalas In The High Country
Crows Nest Qld and districts
How can I help Koalas?
-
When driving at dusk or dawn, slow down and watch out for koalas on the move, especially during breeding season from July to January.
-
Keep your dog confined inside or in a kennel at night.
-
Report koala sightings, via apps QWildlife or Inaturalist or contact Sandra on 0437 734 556
-
If you have room, plant koala friendly trees on your property.
-
Support wildlife carers in your region.
What do I do if I see a koala?
1.
Restrain and keep pets away from the koala. If your neighbours live close to you, let them know about the koala and ask them to contain pets also.
2.
Observe from a distance to determine whether it shows any signs of sickness or injury.
3.
If the animal seems healthy, keep your dog contained and check again later. It will likely move onto another tree in its home range.
4.
If the koala does show signs of being sick or injured, please contact
HCKAG 0437 734 556
KLAWS 0427 969 860
RSPCA 1300 264 625
